The fifteenth SwissVR Monitor is based on a survey of 409 Swiss board members and captures their views on economic and business prospects and corporate governance issues. The report was conducted by SwissVR, in collaboration with Deloitte and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and includes perspectives on the changing environment for board members, their collaboration with management, and key issues they focus on. In closing the report, an interview with Barbara Dubach on the sustainability experience and her expertise as board member is featured.

In the interview, Barbara Dubach, Member of the Board of ESG4Boards, swisscleantech and Pusch, explains why board members should engage with sustainability, the importance of in-depth engagement, and gives recommendations for boards that still struggle with the topic.

“Our analysis under ‘Focused Reporting’ reveals that only 23% of board members from the 151 Swiss companies analyzed possess adequate sustainability expertise. According to the latest ‘Reporting Matters’ publication, only 16% of the members of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) at the board level have expertise in sustainability. There is an urgent need for action, and ESG4Boards is committed to closing this gap.”
