As someone who has dedicated 25+ years to sustainability, my mission is to live sustainable principles every day. And recently I got involved in a project that embodies everything I believe in:
It’s the ARK project in Costa Rica. The goal of the project: to come up with a new way to live— more regenerative and sustainable. The land, once used as pastureland, is now being restored using regenerative agriculture methods:
🌱 Creating organic farms on 70% of the land to provide affordable, organic food for everyone
🌱 Building a greenhouse, planting over 1,500 trees, and fostering as much biodiversity as possible
🌱 Populating all 6 hectares (15 acres) with a wide variety of plants to create a self-sustaining living organism.
And at the core of the project is a vision to build an autonomous community, where:
- Members can design and build their own sustainable homes.
- Stakeholders co-create a self-sustaining environment alongside local schools and a health clinic.
- Nature and well-being are at the heart of every decision.
There is 1 key vision behind The Ark, that greatly resonates with me:
Creating a balance—between well-being, nature, and a way of life that works hand-in-hand with the planet.
And to be honest, this project gives me hope. Hope that we can turn things around for nature. Hope that we don’t have to sacrifice too much in the future—if we accelerate change now. Together. Find out more about the project here: https://www.theark.world/
