Nature finance is growing up.
For years, the narrative focused on commitments, pilots, and potential. What I heard in recent weeks from investors, regulators, and operators is different: nature is becoming an investable asset class.
The data infrastructure is maturing.
Regulation is accelerating.
Capital is actively looking for deployment opportunities.
And yet, money is still flowing in the wrong direction.
Through my work with Innovate 4 Nature, I see this gap firsthand: strong, validated solutions exist, but connecting them to capital and value chains at scale remains a challenge. In this article, I explore what’s holding nature finance back (from transition finance gaps to misaligned instruments), and why the next phase will be defined by execution, not ambition.
The opportunity is real. The question is whether we build the pipelines to capture it.
