Nature &
Biodiversity

We support companies in identifying nature-related risks and opportunities and integrating them into holistic biodiversity strategies – from analysing the value chain to developing nature-positive business models for sustainable economic success and in line with international frameworks such as SBTN, Business for Nature (ACT-D) or TNFD.

Advantages of integrating nature & biodiversity

An intact natural environment is crucial for stable supply chains and long-term, resilient and therefore economically stable success. Nature-related risks, such as resource scarcity, require the integration of biodiversity into corporate strategy. In view of the global goal of protecting 30% of land and marine areas by 2030 (30×30), the business sector is called upon to make its contribution. The proactive consideration of nature in business models not only offers new market opportunities, but also reduces risks in resource management and strengthens resilience. The proactive consideration of nature in all stages of the value chain is a strategic necessity for sustainable economic success and an improved reputation.

Our offer

According to the WEF (2020) and Swiss Re Institute (2023), over 50% of the world’s gross domestic product (over USD 40 trillion) is dependent on nature. Natural dependencies and risks are increasingly influencing the stability of supply chains, locations and therefore business models. Early identification and assessment of these interdependencies is crucial in order to build resilience, utilise opportunities and meet regulatory requirements. We identify the opportunities, impacts and natural risks along the value chain based on TNFD’s LEAP or using the Biodiversity Risk Filter.

Based on the nature-related dependencies and risks, we support companies in setting targets in line with SBTN. On this basis and through stakeholder validation, we support companies in developing their company-specific biodiversity strategy. This provides orientation, sets priorities and integrates nature-related targets into existing processes. Effective strategies and ambitious targets make biodiversity measurable, controllable and an integral part of strategic decisions.

In order to strengthen biodiversity, build resilience and make a positive contribution to nature, we support companies in the development of innovative business models with a nature-positive impact. In addition, through our Innovate 4 Nature (I4N) foundation, we connect companies with nature-positive solutions, promote cooperation between relevant stakeholders and create visibility for pioneering solutions and committed companies.

We support companies in communicating their commitment and achievements for nature and biodiversity effectively and comprehensibly. In doing so, we are guided by internationally recognised frameworks such as the TNFD to enable consistent, credible and targeted reporting. In addition, our educational programme provides in-depth knowledge and practical approaches to strategy and innovation for a nature-positive economy. Using tried-and-tested tools such as the Biodiversity Fresk, we train and sensitise workshop participants for the protection of our nature and biodiversity. In workshops, modules and training sessions, we enable participants to understand, categorise and actively shape future issues.

Nature at the heart of the strategy.
