Reporting EU Omnibus 18 March 2025, posted by Barbara Dubach on LinkedIn:

On February 26th, the European Union announced the Omnibus proposal impacting all companies. Its purpose is simple:

To make corporate sustainability reporting easier and to align multiple sustainability requirements by simplifying:

– The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
– The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
– The EU Taxonomy Regulation

This allows businesses in the EU to focus on real sustainability efforts, while reducing unnecessary bureaucracy.

However, there is a risk that some companies will focus less on sustainability, but it’s also an opportunity to focus more again on business transformation and innovation.

The bigger picture is clear:

Climate change and biodiversity loss won’t disappear. Ignoring sustainability will only back fire later.

Sustainability reporting should be seen as a powerful tool for acting strategically.

Here’s how to use it effectively:

👉 Use the data from reports to clearly understand your company’s environmental and social impacts – it’s the first step towards making decisions that truly benefit both your business and the planet.

👉  With a clear picture of your impacts, set measurable and realistic sustainability goals. Align these goals directly with your business strategy to ensure they are actionable and relevant.

👉 Integrate sustainability into your long-term strategy, not just as a compliance task but as a core principle to ensure your companies resilience in a rapidly changing world.

This is why, in Switzerland, Boards of Directors and AGMs are now responsible for ensuring accurate sustainability reporting. It’s no longer about ticking boxes, but asking the right questions:

– Are we ready for the future?
– What risks are we overlooking?
– Is our company truly sustainable?

Our independent dashboard can help answer these questions. It highlights strengths and areas for improvement, providing a solid base for decision-making.

The goal is clear: Turn reporting into a tool for real, sustainable impact.

Have you done that already?
