$12 trillion. That’s the business potential linked to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Another $10 trillion is in nature-based solutions. When I came across these numbers, 1 thing became clear:

Sustainability is a huge opportunity for businesses. But while many companies want to make a positive impact, they don’t know where to start or how to make it work.

So in 2017, we launched SDGXCHANGE to turn sustainability into a strategic advantage—helping companies grow while making the world better.

It all started with 4 pioneering companies: ewz, Georg Fischer, Losinger Marazzi SA, Swisscom.

Together, we developed and refined the GRIPS process—a structured framework to creating innovation, which stands for:

  • Getting started (assessing sustainability status & change readiness)
  • Reframing (double materiality assessment)
  • Ideating
  • Prototyping
  • Scaling

It brings in external stakeholders and value chain partners to create solutions that drive a net-zero, nature-positive future.

Since then, SDGXCHANGE has helped organizations across Switzerland and Latin America (thanks to our partnership with FUNDES).

We’ve worked with companies across industries, leading:

  • Design sprints in wood, mobility, and food industries
  • Webinars & workshops with companies like Holcim in El Salvador
  • Ideation workshops with leaders like Blattmann, Bystronic, IKEA, and Schindler

One standout example of the impact of SDGXCHANGE? Our work with IKEA Switzerland. Through our process, they discovered a new business model: Instead of selling office furniture, they now lease it. This shift reduces waste, supports circularity, and opens up new revenue streams—while reinforcing IKEA’s commitment to sustainability.

This shows that the SDGX process is an impactful tool for:

  • Driving innovation
  • Identifying new business opportunities
  • Transforming towards a net-zero, nature-positive future

Most companies have untapped potential in their value chains. With the SDGX tool we help them find it.
