🎓 Last Saturday, I had the immense honor of delivering a keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the International Institute in Geneva (IIG) — and to receive an honorary doctorate for my 25-year journey in sustainability. 🌍
Heartfelt thanks to International Institute in Geneva, its Chancellor Claude Martin — former Director General of WWF International — and to my fellow keynote speakers Professor Dafydd Moore Senior Deputy Vice‑Chancellor, University of Plymouth and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, for sharing his personal story.
It was a deeply moving moment — not just to reflect on the past, but to look forward. To speak directly to the next generation of leaders, reminding us all that true transformation begins beneath the surface — with mindsets, values, and the courage to challenge systems that no longer serve people or planet.
In my keynote, I shared the Iceberg Model that shaped my own path — from environmental policy and circular business models to regenerative leadership and nature-positive innovation.
And I asked one simple question:
👉 Why are you here? Not just at this ceremony — but on this planet.
Because sustainability isn’t just about doing less harm. It’s about regeneration — about building systems that restore, renew, and reimagine a better future.
To the graduates — and to all changemakers reading this:
✅ Go deep.
✅ Ask better questions.
✅ Lead from purpose.
✅ Build the foundations for a world your grandchildren will thank you for.
And when someone says, “This is too complex,” — smile and say:
„If it were simple, we’d have fixed it already.“
